A Community of Faith and Fellowship
Type of Community:
Calvary Homes is an independent, not-for-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community.
Range of Services:
Independent-living apartments and cottages, personal care with memory support, skilled nursing, short-term rehabilitation, and respite care as available.
Calvary Homes is conveniently located in a beautiful tree-filled neighborhood just outside the City of Lancaster. Calvary offers more than 220 comfortable and well-appointed homes and apartments. Personal care is offered in either private or semi-private rooms, and our health care center has been reconfigured into two residential neighborhoods – with private rooms and baths – to promote the best in person-centered care. Both licensed care areas are highly rated by government reporting agencies.
Our Pet Philosophy: Whether a pet sits on your lap, swims tranquilly in an aquarium or tweets a cheerful song, Calvary Homes recognizes the importance these furry, feathered or finned friends bring to the lives of residents. They provide their owners with companionship, comfort and joy and, in the case of dogs, motivation to get up, get outside and start moving. Having a pet can also relieve stress and anxiety and best of all, they make great listeners.
We welcome: Calvary Homes welcomes dogs, cats, caged birds and fish.
Restrictions: Independent living residents may have one pet per household; dogs are permitted in cottages only, while cats are allowed in both cottages and apartments. Fish – in tanks of no more than 10 gallons – are welcome in either cottages or apartments. One caged bird is permitted either in cottages or the Rohrer Building apartments.
Deposits/fees: A pet security deposit of $150 is required. The deposit is refundable upon the death or relocation of the pet and after the residence is inspected for any damage caused by the pet.
Partnerships with Therapy Groups: KPETS’ Diva (poodle) and Zoe (cat) make one-to-one visits with residents in health care areas on a regular basis.
Are residents’ visitors permitted to bring their pets on campus? Guests are welcome to bring their well-mannered pets to visit in residential areas, but they must be leashed (maximum length of 8 ft.) or kept in pet carriers in all common and outside spaces. Guests are also responsible for clean-up and disposal of pet waste. With pre-approval, cottage residents may pet-sit visiting dogs for a specified period of time.
Exercise: Calvary Homes is located in a wonderful, pet-friendly neighborhood. Wide, tree-lined streets provide comfortable and safe areas to walk and exercise your leashed pet. Several community parks and two public dog parks are within short driving distances, and a full-service pet supply store is located nearby.
Paperwork/certifications: Dogs must be licensed, and pet owners must provide a veterinarian’s statement showing that their dogs or cats are up to date on all vaccinations and immunizations.
