The Muscular Dystrophy Association of Harrisburg, Central PA announced today the 1st annual Maple Donuts Cannister Drop and Custom Donut event will kick off on April 27 at all Maple Donut locations to help transform the lives of kids and adults with Muscular Dystrophy, ALS and related muscle-debilitating diseases.
A portion of the proceeds from Maple Donut’s custom Chocolate/Strawberry LEX donut help to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Lex is a local young man with Duchene Muscular Dystrophy who attends MDA’s annual summer camp free of charge. In addition to making an MDA kid feel special, this event will raise much-needed funds to support awareness of Muscular Dystrophy’s mission statement: “to free individuals — and the families who love them — from the harm of muscular dystrophy, ALS and related muscle-debilitating diseases that take away physical strength, independence and life.”
The money raised by the event will support MDA’s mission to fund groundbreaking research across diseases and provide individuals with life-enhancing programs and support services, including state-of-the-art multidisciplinary care the MDA Care Center at Penn State Hershey Medical Centre in Hershey.
Funds raised also make MDA Summer Camp possible for area kids where they can experience the best week of the year at no cost to their families at Variety Club camp. Additionally, families have access to our loan closet and bi-monthly support groups.
