Bus Trip to Historic Bethlehem
Join the Ephrata Cloister Associates December 6 when we depart from our upper parking lot at 632 W. Main St., Ephrata at 10 a.m. to travel to Historic Bethlehem, Christmas City USA.
This fun-filled day will begin with a visit to Bethlehem’s Christkindlmarkt, twice recognized as one of the best holiday markets in the U.S. by Travel + Leisure. This heart-warming holiday event features over 150 of the nation’s finest artisans, Christmas music, ice carving, glassblowing demonstrations and collectibles from Germany.
From there we will tour the Trees of Historic Bethlehem as we visit four historic houses where over 20 trees will display decorations inspired by famous fashion designers such as Dior, Chanel, Burberry and more! These trees will be displayed alongside Historic Bethlehem’s PURSEonality exhibition with corresponding purses, clutches and handbags from the private collection of Ilene Hochberg Wood.
For lunch, we’ll journey to the 1758 Tavern at the Sun Inn, a Colonial-style American eatery with original, rustic décor with a storied past where a tasty repast will await us.
After lunch, it’s time on your own at the Christmas City Village open-air festival that boasts an impressive selection of quality crafts, and authentic German foods and vendors are camped in handmade wooden booths, in true German style.
We will complete the day with the Bethlehem by Night tour at 5:30 p.m., which has been deemed “the best way to see Bethlehem.” This bus tour explores the history and traditions of Bethlehem with guides in period dress.
