First Friday April 3: “Holy Scenes” Organ Concert
On First Friday, April 3, “Organic Reflections” will feature resident organist Larry Hershey playing the vintage 1958 analog Allen organ at First Reformed Church, 40 E Orange Street in downtown Lancaster. The program features organ works portraying scenes from Palm Sunday through Easter. The concert includes works by Guilmant, Weinberger, Brahms, Bossi and Wood, and will conclude with “Incantation for a Holy Day” by Jean Langlais. The First Friday “Organic Reflections” series is a gift to the Lancaster community from First Reformed Church, a center city congregation of the United Church of Christ. Only 30 minutes in length, the free concerts begin at 8 PM each First Friday for the convenience of those who wish to spend the early evening visiting downtown galleries before the concert. Doors open at 7:30 pm. All are welcome to experience the beauty of the majestic music played on the mighty 1958 vintage analog Allen organ. Invite someone to join you to hear 30 minutes of classical organ music that will refresh your soul and inspire your spirit.
