Genealogy Event at Ephrata Cloister - A Householder Homecoming
The Historic Ephrata Cloister invites descendants of early community members to explore their family history at a Householder Homecoming.
The new event, planned for August 1, 2020, offers opportunities for genealogical research, family activities, historical tours and programs, and the chance to meet familiar and long-lost family members. Registration for the event will be required, but you can share your family’s interest now by contacting the Historic Ephrata Cloister at HouseholderHomecoming@gmail.com. You can also be part of the team planning the event by using the same email contact.
As the place where Ephrata began, the Ephrata Cloister holds connections to many of the area’s early families. The National Historic Landmark holds limited genealogical material. Family names mentioned in original documents include Bauman, Fahnestock, Zerfass, Miller and Kimmel among many others, whose descendants still live in the area and around the world. To learn if your family is among those with ancestry connected to the historic site, check the listing found under the Householder Homecoming page of the museum’s website, EphrataCloister.org.
