Hiwwe wie Driwee (Roots of the Pennsylvania Dutch)
Ephrata Cloister is pleased to announce a showing of the film Hiwwe wie Driwee (Roots of the Pennsylvania Dutch). This documentary explores the local Pennsylvania Dutch culture and language along with its origins in Germany. Hiwwe wie Driwee accompanies Pennsylvania born author and musician Douglas Madenford in his search for traces of the Palatine language and culture in Germany and the United States. The film includes English subtitles.
The film premiered at the German Consulate in New York City in June 2019 and at other select locations in the United States over the course of this past summer. Now, Ephrata Cloister is pleased to present the opportunity to view this film to our local community.
