Local artist Karen Chandler will be bringing her newest collection of work, Fluid Transformations, to Mulberry Art Studios this December. The public is invited to come out and meet the artist at a First Friday Reception on December 3rd from 5pm-9pm. Guests who wish to view the artwork during the week should call the gallery at 717-295-1949 or email the curator at Stephanie.MulberryArt@gmail.com. Mulberry Art Studios is located in historic downtown Lancaster at 19-21 North Mulberry Street, and offers free parking in their private lot behind the gallery.
“I have never been an artist who is content to stay with one medium or one style of work” explains Chandler. “Acrylic pouring appeals to my creative side with elements of surprise. Pouring also challenges my skill to transform the pour using fun techniques. These transformations are inspired by nature referencing plant life, earth, sky and water basins. I enjoy the art-making of these abstracts as well as hanging them in my home.” Karen Chandler holds a BA in Art and post-graduate work in Art Ed from Millersville University, PA. She studied 2 years at Kutztown University, PA for commercial design and photography. She studied sculpture under the direction of Ramon Lago, successful Cuban sculptor, at the Wyomissing School of Fine Art. She completed certification programs at PCAD for Digital Design, Print and Web. She studied with the late Mitch Lyons, pioneer for clay-printing. Karen instructed art for 3-1/2 years to individuals with disabilities. Currently she works privately at her home studio in Millersville.
