The 2021 River Towns Plein Air is an open (non-juried) competition. Registered artists will paint ‘En plein air’ (outdoors, on location) along both sides of the Susquehanna River (York and Lancaster Counties). See schedule here.
The designated painting area boasts some of the most scenic areas of Lancaster and York Counties bordering the Susquehanna River. It includes breathtaking vistas, water views and quaint small town Americana. Awards will be presented at the end of the paint-out.
The Juror of Awards is Julie Riker. Julie studied Illustration at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and owns her own decorative painting business. When not working for a client, she enjoys painting outdoors. Often these plein air paintings serve as inspiration for larger studio pieces, but some stand on their own as observations of the beauty and variety of nature. She has participated in many national plein air events and won several awards. Julie’s paintings have been published in Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine, Plein Air Magazine and Southwest Art Magazine.
From April 23-25, there will be a final showing of work at Studio 264, Marietta Community House, 264 W Market St, Marietta PA 17547. A 30% commission from the sale of artwork benefits the Marietta Community House, a 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization.
