The North Museum is giving thanks to our legless reptilian friends with our annual Snakesgiving event! Join us at the museum on November 26th from 10am to 3pm for this Snake-themed celebration. At the event, visitors can participate in several snake-themed activities and crafts, including a create your own snake activity for a slithery friend to take home! Visitors will be encouraged to see and interact with our current Live Animal Room snake residents, including our favorite corn snake, Popcorn, who will be retiring from the museum after this year’s event. With these friendly snakes, visitors will realize that reptiles aren’t so scary, just scaly! Special guests will also add their knowledge of reptiles to that of our Live Animal Room volunteers! Kyle Loucks, a popular guest from Snakesgiving 2019 and southeastern PA coordinator for the Pennsylvania Amphibian and Reptile Survey, will be returning. He will have a table set up with information on our local snakes and other herps, and how to get involved with the survey as a citizen scientist.
Our resident reptile expert, Anne Esbenshade, will be on-hand at the event for any snake-related questions. Admission for Snakesgiving is included in the general admission ticket for the museum on November 26th. The event runs all day from 10am to 3pm. For tickets, visit our website at www.northmuseum.org or contact the Front Desk at (717) 358-3941. The snakes can’t wait to see you, so slither on into the museum to celebrate this special event!
