Stories on the Porch
Rock Ford Plantation welcomes the return of its summer storytelling program, Stories on the Porch. During this program, a Rock Ford volunteer reads a selected story of life in Early America to the children gathered on the spacious porch of the mansion. Following the story, children participate in a fun activity. Afterwards, children and their adults may enjoy the grounds of Rock Ford or take a guided tour of the mansion. (There is a charge for guided tours of the mansion).
Stories on the Porch will be offered on Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m. from June 18-August 6. The program runs for approximately 30 minutes. Stories on the Porch is geared toward children from preschool through fifth grade. Children must be accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult. This event is free, but donations are welcome.
Reservations are not required for this event. The program will be held rain or shine.
The historic property is open for tours Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. from April to October. It is operated by the nonprofit Rock Ford Foundation.
