The Demuth Foundation is pleased to announce a new exhibition, Work Behind the Work, on view September 25 through November 14 at the Demuth Museum. A public opening reception will take place on Friday, September 24 from 5 – 8 pm.
Work Behind the Work gives viewers the unique experience of looking inside the artist’s creative process. Artists utilize these working methods as creative playgrounds to experiment, explore and expand their initial ideas and vision. Some artists pull from observation, some artists record thoughts and musings, and some collect ephemera. Work Behind the Work investigates the moments of the creative trajectory of an artist’s practice; the catalysts, the point of departures, and the seeds for future works of art.
Works range in a variety of mediums and featured artists include: Tom Bejgrowicz, Shwarga Bhattacharjee, Becky Blosser, Matt Chapman, Adam DeMarcelle & Heather Snyder Quinn, Jon DiVenti, Josias Figureido, Eric Fowler, Henry Gepfer, David Johanson, Evan Kitson, Dave Moss, Yixuan Pan, Justin Phillips, Paul Rider, Tom Scullin, Gene Shaw, Aaron Thompson, Jeremy Waak, Jason Ward, Robert Young, and Meghan Zettlemoyer.
This special exhibition is curated by Justin Phillips, Aaron Thompson, and Jeremy Waak for the Demuth Museum.
