LancasterHistory.org’s Yuletide at Wheatland returns! Visitors to Yuletide at Wheatland will tour the presidential mansion and learn about the multi-layered history of the house and its occupants, as well as how Christmas celebrations changed over the course of 60 years in America between 1860 and 1920.
During Yuletide at Wheatland, visitors will learn about three distinct eras in the mansion’s history through three festively decorated period rooms: the 1860s, 1880s and 1920s.
Tours of Yuletide at Wheatland are available Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tickets are $17 for adults (14+), $8 for children (6-13), and free for small children (5 & Under with the purchase of a paying adult).
In addition to Yuletide at Wheatland, LancasterHistory.org is also hosting a special evening event, Tours & Tinsel, for two nights only in December. On Tuesdays, December 11 and 18 from 6-8 p.m., visitors can enjoy a leisurely tour of Wheatland at their own pace, libations and live music. Live music will feature The Tuck Ryan Band on December 11 and Temple Avenue on December 18. Tickets are $20 for LancasterHistory.org members, $25 for non-members, and $10 for children (6-13) (children under 5 are free).
A free Holiday Storytime will also be offered every Saturday in December (1, 8, 15, 22, and 29) at 11 a.m. Children will be introduced to historic themes and stories and read a holiday book aloud. After the reading, children are invited to stay for a holiday activity or craft inspired by the day’s theme or book. The program is designed for children ages 4 through 9, but all children are welcome. There is no cost to attend, but those interested are required to make advance reservations.
