Our Pet Philosophy: Fairmount recognizes that pets contribute to the health and well-being of many residents. Pets make great companions and can contribute to our residents’ physical health.
We welcome: Fairmount permits dogs, cats, birds, rodents and other small domesticated animals.
Restrictions: Currently, pets are permitted in all of Fairmount’s 52 cottages.
Resident Therapy Pets: Fairmount residents receive regular visits from Feena, our therapy dog, and Buddy, our therapy cat. Both the first- and second-floor Health Care neighborhoods are home to parakeets and lovebirds in glass cages, centrally located in resident lounges. Tanks with colorful fish can be found on each floor. Plus, there is a beautiful fish pond beside the first-floor patio. Therapy pets encourage our residents to reminisce about their past pets and are a wonderful source of enjoyment. How rewarding to see the joy they bring to our residents!
Deposits/fees: Yes.
Weight/size limit: Fairmount loves pets that weigh 30 pounds or less and stand no more than 18 inches high at the shoulder. Some exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Are residents permitted to have more than one pet? Fairmount residents may have up to two pets.
Exercise: We have extensive walking trails with scenic views overlooking the picturesque Lancaster County countryside.
Are residents’ visitors permitted to bring their pets on campus? We welcome furry visitors as long as they are approved and have the proper paperwork filed with Fairmount. Several families and team members do bring their pets for regular visits.
Paperwork/certifications: We ask for written verification of current pet inoculations, licenses
and tags.
Are there veterinary practices located near your community? Being nestled between Ephrata and New Holland near Brownstown, Fairmount pet owners have numerous options nearby for their pets’ veterinary care.
