Life Plan/Continuing Care Retirement Community
Landis Homes provides cottage homes, apartments, hybrid homes, personal care, healthcare and memory support to over 875 residents. It is one of two retirement communities in Lancaster County nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and was the first retirement community in the area to receive a LEED Gold certification for sustainable construction practices.
Range of Services:
The community also has two adult day services centers, one specifically for memory support. Landis at Home, a home care agency, provides personal care, companionship, household tasks and transportation. A new community center offers a fitness studio, indoor pool, art gallery, bank, pharmacy, salon, spa and classrooms for the Pathways Institute for Lifelong Learning®.
Our Pet Philosophy: We welcome the pets of residents and campus visitors in private residences and most public areas.
We welcome: Dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, gerbils, guinea pigs, hamsters and fish.
Restrictions: Pet owners living in residential living and personal care may own up to two pets.
Partnerships with Therapy Groups: Yes, KPETS and other local pet owners.
Resident Therapy Pets: At times, we do have indoor campus pets. Outdoors, there are also campus peacocks, swans and other domesticated and wild birds for all to enjoy.
Deposit/fees: A signed agreement (with no deposit, monthly fee or weight limit) is required.
Exercise: The 114-acre campus offers extensive walkways that are either paved or mulched. The natural areas include ponds, woods, rain gardens, a bluebird walk, a restored stream and a wetland area, which hosts a variety of birds and other wildlife.
Does your community plan/host/sponsor special pet-related activities? Our annual Blessing of the Animals service is held outdoors in early October, on or near St. Francis Day. Led by the Pastoral Services team, it is a time of prayer and gratitude for the gift of pets. Each pet receives a blessing.
In case of emergency: The agreement names a designated person to care for the pet in the event that the resident is not able. Feeding and walking a pet are included in the services for residents who engage with Landis at Home.
