Christmas Tree Train

For that special Currier and Ives Christmas experience, take a ride aboard Strasburg Rail Road’s Christmas Tree Train! Travel by authentic steam train to Leaman Place Grove, where you can choose a pre-cut Frasier Fir tree and have it delivered back to the station.

Once at Leaman Place Grove, you have approximately one hour to choose and purchase that special Christmas tree. We bale it and you can watch it being loaded on our heritage freight car while enjoying a roaring campfire and the sound of Christmas carols. For those guests riding the evening trains, the grove is lit with old-fashioned, Edison-style lighting to illuminate the trees.

You and your tree then return to the station, where friendly Strasburg Rail Road staff assist you with loading your tree onto/into your vehicle. Passengers aboard the Christmas Tree Train can expect to be returned to the East Strasburg Station one-and-a-half hours after departure.

The Christmas Tree Train runs independent of the regularly scheduled Santa’s Paradise Express and Night Before Christmas trains. Santa is not aboard the Christmas Tree Train. Seating is limited, so we encourage you to secure your tickets early.

Please note that the tree has an additional cost. Cash and credit cards are accepted at Leaman Place Grove. Frasier Fir Christmas trees range in height from 6′ to 8′.

Wreaths, swags, sprays, and roping will also be available. We recommend contacting us in advance if you are interested in a shorter or taller tree. Back at the station, our gift shops have a variety of keepsake ornaments to purchase as a special memory of your Christmas Tree Train experience.
