Lindsey Armour chose to hold this performance in March because it is Women’s Mental Health Awareness Month. “With a passion to end the stigma surrounding women’s mental health, I have delved into intimate and private moments centered around mental health, and the truth of these experiences behind closed doors” says Armour, noting society’s unrealistic expectations of women as it demands the need to wear a mask to hide all internal and mental struggles from being revealed to the public eye. The fear of being labeled dramatic, weak, inadequate, and problematic are just a few of the paralyzing effects of the stigma that society has inflicted on women and their mental health. By creating an intimate experience, Armour divulges the raw and unfiltered truth of mental health with integrity and honesty. Five women with varying mental health struggles, unveil their internal experiences with mental health through an external exploration, bonding them to one another through a sense of acceptance, connection, understanding, and empathy.
