Amy Yovanovich Sings Spirituals & Songs Celebrating Black History Month

First Reformed Church will host a 30 minute First Friday concert with mezzo-soprano Amy Yovanovich, executive director of the State Street Academy of Music in Harrisburg. Ms.Yovanovich has selected a program that includes the spirituals “Give Me Jesus” and “My Lord, What A Morning”, arranged by Mark Hayes. Also “Deep River”, arranged by Moses Hogan, and “Steal Away”, arranged by Howard Helvey. She will be accompanied at the piano by Larry Hershey. The free 30 minute concert will begin at 8 PM. The First Friday concert series is a gift to the community from First Reformed Church, a center city congregation of the United Church of Christ. Only 30 minutes in length, the free concerts begin at 8 PM each First Friday for the convenience of those who wish to spend the early evening visiting downtown galleries before the concert. Doors open at 7:30 pm. All are welcome to hear 30 minutes of inspiring music that will refresh your soul and inspire your spirit.
