Happy Hiker: Preparing For Winter In The Woods

Happy Hiker: Preparing For Winter In The Woods

What’s the difference between a happy hiker and a sad hiker? Our inaugural Happy Hiker series, of course! Join us for six evening programs that include basic lessons on how to be a happy hiker, including first aid, map reading, choosing the right gear, and natural history. Based on the Hiker’s Ten Essentials and Leave No Trace principles, each evening program will also include nature knowledge nuggets and a short, easy hike to practice what we’re learning! This series, full of fun activities, mini-challenges, and the opportunity to practice new skills, will help make every hike safer and more enjoyable. For this event in the series, Learn how to assemble a winter first aid kit. Get your blaze orange on as hunting season approaches and be visible! Trek through the woods to find nature’s own blaze of color. Open to all ages; 18 years and under should be accompanied by an adult. Dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring water and a snack.  The Happy Hiker is a series being held every Thursday from May through October. Visit website for additional details.
