On Thursday, October 20, author Bob O’Connor will join LancasterHistory for a lecture about his historical fiction novel on Harriet Lane, called Harriet Lane: The Original “First Lady” of Washington. O’ Connor will discuss his research and insights into the life and times of Harriet Lane, niece of James Buchanan and First Lady of the United States, from her early days in Mercersburg, PA to her time in the UK to her time as First Lady.
Bob O’Connor is an author, historian, and researcher of the Civil War era. Now retired, O’Connor works full-time at writing and has written over two dozen books. He has also been named a finalist in the National Book competition four times. O’Connor enjoys writing about lesser known historical figures. His books include non-fiction and historical fiction, plus two children’s books. Originally from Dixon, Illinois, Bob now resides in Charles Town, West Virginia.

This event is expected to take place in person at LancasterHistory and online on Thursday, October 20. The doors open and check in begins at 6:30pm. The lecture will begin at 7pm. The lecture will also be streamed to YouTube for those who wish to join us virtually.
The program is free and open to the public but requires advance registration in order to guarantee a seat or to receive the link to the presentation.
