This is a family-friendly opportunity for the public to explore the organic farm in Millersville, and meet the team that will grow and harvest organic food throughout the season. Guests can also tour the 19-acre farm, sample products, and learn about volunteer opportunities at Homefields.
Homefields Care Farm is Lancaster County’s longest-running community-supported agriculture (CSA) program and has created vocational and volunteer opportunities for hundreds of people who have a disability or other barriers to traditional employment.
The farm’s CSA season runs from May 24 through November 2. Shareholders pick up organic vegetables and have access to pick-your-own fields of herbs, flowers, sweet and hot peppers, cherry tomatoes, and more. In response to shareholder feedback, raspberries have been added to the pick-your-own fields this year.
Homefields also partners with other nearby farms and businesses to offer add-ons like bread, cheese, mushrooms, juices and kombucha, which CSA shareholders can pick up with their produce.
Free on-site parking is available, and pre-registration for Open Farm is requested at www.homefields.org.
