Organic Reflections: Twilight Music

Organic Reflections: Twilight Music

The mighty vintage 1958 analog Allen organ will again be the featured instrument for a 30 minute concert celebrating “Twilight Music.” Resident organist Larry Hershey will perform works including “Adagio in E Major” by Frank Bridge, and “Nocturne” from Shylock by Gabriel Faure, arranged by Virgil Fox (who played the Dedicatory Concert on the Allen Organ in 1958). The program also includes Maurice Durufle’s “Fugue on the Theme of the Carillon of Hours at the Cathedral of Soissons” and Healey Willan’s organ prelude “At the Close of Day.” Organic Reflections is a gift to the community from First Reformed Church, a center city congregation of the United Church of Christ. Only 30 minutes in length, the free concerts begin at 8 PM each First Friday for the convenience of those who wish to spend the early evening visiting downtown galleries before the concert. Doors open at 7:30 pm. All are welcome to hear 30 minutes of classical organ music that will refresh your soul and inspire your spirit.
