The 24 Hours Play

Creative Works are back, LIVE and in person! What better site for the 24 Hour Plays to be live again than to rise up in the Lancaster Cemetery. The 24 Hour Plays is set for May 14, 2022, at 6 p.m. at the Lancaster Cemetery. The performances will begin at the Caretaker’s House, 205 E Lemon St, Lancaster, PA. 

This is the eleventh year The 24 Hour Plays have been produced in Lancaster! 

Six writers, six directors, twenty-five actors and a production team will write, rehearse and perform six ten-minute plays in a 24 hour period. There will only be one performance of the plays.

The six plays will have undergone a process that starts Friday evening, May 13, with writers choosing their actors from a pool of talent. The six writers will write through the night and hand their work to the directors early Saturday morning, May 14, the day of the performance.  After negotiating for their choice of play, directors will work with their actors and a crew of stage technicians to prepare for the 6 p.m. performance.

Performances will begin at the Caretaker’s House and patrons will move throughout the cemetery for the evening’s performances. 

Since its inception in New York City in 1995, The 24 Hour Plays (www.24hourplays.com) have been performed for audiences throughout the United States and the world – attracting both professional and amateur theater artists.  Talent involved in past 24 Hour Plays includes Jennifer Aniston, Rosie Perez, Kevin Spacey, Vince Vaughn and Elijah Wood. The Lancaster production will feature veteran members of the Central Pennsylvania theater scene working along-side artists that may be new to the audience.
